Southern West Virginia is a food connoisseur’s paradise, from flavorful, budget-friendly cuisines to exceptional fine dining in the mountains. And Raleigh County, the hub of Southern West Virginia has its own culinary delights! Here are some of our favorite dining spots in Beckley, Ghent, Beaver, and other surrounding areas in Raleigh County.
Dobra Zupas – Beckley
A charming brewpub, Dobra Zupas is a great place to grab a bite to eat. With an eclectic menu featuring entrees like Pear and Feta Salad, Crab Cake sandwiches, and Black and Blue filets, there is something for everyone’s taste buds. Enjoy your meal with a Dobra Zupas craft beer!
King Tut Drive-In – Beckley
Opened in the 1940s, King Tut Drive-In is Raleigh County’s only drive-in! Serving up favorites like the pizza burger, meatloaf sandwich, and steak hoagies (all complete with homemade bread), King Tut is a Beckley classic. And you can’t make a trip to the drive-in without ordering dessert! Enjoy a homemade pie or hand-spun milkshake.
Skyline Grill – Ghent
Skyline Grill is located at the Skyline Lodge, near Winterplace Ski Resort. The restaurant offers original southern flavors, from “debris mac and cheese” to fried green tomatoes to shrimp and grits! This is an excellent place to dine after an adventure in the mountains.
Tamarack – Beckley
Known as the Best of West Virginia, Tamarack is the ultimate culinary destination for visitors and locals alike! The menu features appetizing Appalachian-inspired cuisine prepared by West Virginia chefs, like pan-seared mountain trout and fried green tomato sandwiches.
Weathered Ground Brewery – Ghent
A family-owned brewery located on stunning Southern West Virginia farmland, Weathered Ground Brewery has an assortment of small-batch ales on tap crafted with the finest local ingredients. The brewery also serves classic pub food like beer cheese and pretzels, buffalo wings, and pizza.
Calacino’s Pizzeria – Beckley
Calacino’s opened in 1934 and was Beckley’s first pizzeria, The menu features brick oven pizzas, pasta, wings, hot sandwiches (called “stackers”), and more. Specialties, like the “Dominick Supreme” pizza pie — loaded with four different types of meats and various vegetables — and the pepperoni rolls — a local favorite — keep their loyal customers coming back.
Gino’s Pizza and Spaghetti House – Beckley
With more than 50 locations throughout West Virginia (it was also founded here in the state), Gino’s Pizza and Spaghetti House is a well-known restaurant chain in the region. Pasquale Mira – Beckley
Pasquale Mira’s is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been serving the area for over 50 years. With more than 50 menu items — from spaghetti with meatballs and eggplant parmesan to stuffed flounder and veal marsala — there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Chocolate Moose – Beckley
A local coffee shop, Chocolate Moose serves fresh coffee from in-house roasted beans, flavored lattes, and cappuccinos. In addition to the specialty coffee drinks, the Chocolate Moose also offers a wide range of fresh smoothies and Hershey’s hand-dipped ice cream. The coffee shop is conveniently located by the Outside-In Climbing Gym and Mountain State Miniature Golf.

Poncho and Lefty’s is a laid-back eatery offering Mexican classics such as tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. Signature tacos such as “The Poncho” (fried fish, Carolina slaw, pico de Gallo, and chipotle sour cream) and “The Outlaw” (grilled chicken, pineapple, moon sauce, and chipotle sour cream) keep the menu exciting and fresh.
The Dish Cafe – Daniels
