Sweet Springs Resort-Abandoned
This area was renowned for its healing springs. The Sweet Springs Resort opened in 1833, and the hotel was reportedly designed by Thomas Jefferson. The building was later used as a sanitarium, a hospital and a nursing home, until it was finally abandoned. The buildings are closed, but for the history enthusiast, this is a must see roadside stop.
