April 22, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm
LATE BREAKING NEWS: Whitewater Rafting at the AOTG Retreat. You asked, AOTG delivered!
Many of you asked about whitewater rafting during the retreat. We did not have it scheduled because it took up too much retreat time. We asked AOTG to offer a special raft trip just for our group. They agreed! It will be Friday, April 22 from 12:00-3:30 pm.
Our very own yoga teacher, Paul Milam (pictured above), also works at AOTG as a raft guide. He has agreed to be the guide for our group.
~ THIS WILL BE THE ONLY RAFT TRIP FOR OUR GROUP ~

The Lower New River Rapid Run is designed for those who want to experience the excitement of the Lower New River but in a shorter time frame.
This express trip runs 8 miles, through 17 rapids, and is focused on the whitewater with no lunch or extra stops along the way. It is an ideal option to enhance the yoga retreat and make Friday an entire day.

FAQs:
About the New River: The Lower New River offers one of the best whitewater rafting experiences in West Virginia. It is a large volume river with large shelf drops and boulders, creating the perfect combination of waves and hydraulics for a world-class whitewater rafting experience.
Guide Information: Paul Milam (CYT200), your guide, sits in the raft and provides instruction at each major rapid and throughout the trip.
Boat Size: AOTG standard rafts are 16 feet long, comfortably seating 8 guests and a guide. Rafts may be 12′ or 14′ to adjust for the group.
Time on Water: This is a half-day trip. Depending on water levels, you will spend 2 – 3.5 hours on the water.
What’s Provided: AOTG provides transportation from the resort to the river and back again, all rafting equipment (helmet, life jacket, paddle, and boat), and a complimentary beverage.
What to Bring: Any medication you need throughout the day, plus sunscreen, sunglasses, and a change of clothes to keep at the resort upon your return. Guides carry small waterproof bags to stow necessary medications.
What to Wear: Since the weather is unpredictable, you may want a synthetic layer, splash jacket, wet suit, swimsuit, shoes that tie (no flip flops), and a warm head covering that will fit under a tight cap. If necessary, wetsuits and splash jackets are available for rent from AOTG. Call ahead at 855-379-8738 to reserve them.
Requirements & Restrictions: The minimum age for this trip is 12 years old. AOTG’s PFDs (personal floatation devices) have a maximum chest capacity of 56 inches. Participants should also be able to swim.
Trip Safety: Your guide will discuss specific safety requirements on site.
Where do I put my phone during my trip? If you decide to bring your phone with you, it is of your own free will and AOTG/YP holds no responsibility. Make sure you can keep it dry.
Will this trip go if it rains or snows? Yes! We will go rain, shine, and even snow!
What is the cancellation policy? You can read more about the cancellation policy here. AOTG will only cancel a trip if the weather is deemed unsafe. Very rarely do they cancel a trip, but read their policy to see why they might postpone a trip or reschedule during your stay.
