The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a 6 mile running road race from one rim of the New River Gorge, down to the bottom where you’ll cross over the New River, then back to the rim of the other side with a short trail section to finish. This bucket list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in the adventure sports capital of West Virginia – Fayetteville. This event is hosted by Active Southern West Virginia at Adventures on the Gorge, where racers will finish at the resorts rim side pool to enjoy a catered brunch overlooking the New River Gorge.
The race course will begin on the south side of the New River Gorge on Fayette Station Road – Route 82 and will follow Burma Road and Ames Heights Road. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1,300 feet and a climb of 1,300 feet with the steepest point being a 20% incline – get ready to feel the Burma Burn! The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course, but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame. The morning of the race, racers will check in at the finish area (Adventures on the Gorge) and be provided a bus ride to the start line.
Every racer will be required to sign a release of liability, follow race rules and regulations, and adhere to the race course route. There are no refunds for cancellations. If you are unable to attend the race, you can transfer your registration to someone else.
