March at The Raleigh

March 7, 2019 @ 12:00 am - March 8, 2019 @ 11:59 pm

March 7-10

Beginning March 7 is a weekend performance of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch — The Punk Rock Musical Sensation.”

This production, which will be a fully cast stage performance, tells the life story of a transgender punk-rock girl from East Berlin who tours the U.S. with her band and follows the former lover and bandmate who stole her songs.

This show is not recommended for an audience under the age of 18 because of its content.

Pre-sale tickets are live and can be found on both The Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre and the WV Collective’s Facebook pages. Pre-sale tickets are $15, or $20 at the door.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8. On Saturday, March 9, it will begin at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, March 10, it will begin at 6 p.m.

The doors will open 30 minutes prior to the event.

March 15

On Friday, March 15, the theater will present “Bustin’ Guts in Beckley” — a live, uncensored stand-up comedy show.

The show will feature comedians such as Andy Frampton, Crystalle Ramey, Lawton Parnell, Dave Yates, and Lewisburg native Ian Lutz.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at theraleighwv. com.

The show will begin at 9 p.m.

March 21-24

The Playhouse will be showing “WRESTLE,” an intimate coming-of-age documentary that follows a high school wrestling team in Alabama and their struggles with not just wrestling but everyday life.

Showings for the documentary are Thursday, March 21, and Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 23, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and a single matinee showing on Sunday at 3 p.m. only.

March 28-31

On the last weekend of the month, the theater will be showing “To Dust” — a new indie film starring Matthew Broderick from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

“To Dust,” which is directed by Shawn Snyder, tells the story of “a Hasidic cantor in upstate New York, who is distraught by the untimely death of his wife, as he befriends a local community college biology professor and the two embark on an increasingly literal undertaking into the underworld.”
