A WV Valentine’s Day
Declarations of devotion are soon to be echoing across the Appalachian mountain range. The couples’ holiday is nearing: Valentine’s Day.
Made plans yet? This holiday is the perfect excuse to make a grand gesture to remind someone you care about just how much it is you do care. So how about something special— like a getaway for two, tucked away in the sweeping WV mountains?
Another perk to the love holiday? Package deals and special events. Southern WV has plenty to take advantage of this holiday.
Here are a few Valentine’s Day date ideas around Southern WV. . .
Twin Falls Sweetheart Weekend
Walk into your room or cozy cabin, and roses and wine glasses will await you. Dine lavishly before you dance the night away to DJ Cowboy Will’s grooves. Enjoy games together and dote on your special someone with more sweet surprises from the romantic auction.
Pipestem Resort Sweetheart Weekend
Arrive Friday for sweets with your sweet at a Dessert & More evening event. Explore the State Park Saturday before dinner, your choice of a plated meal or buffet. Then join the other couples for a swinging shindig, an evening dance featuring a blend of country, Southern rock, classic rock and blues stylings of the band Acoustic Crossroads.
Sugar coat this sweet deal with a spa deal along with your stay, since Pipestem Spa is adjacent to the park. You’ll get 15% off with your stay, and they have a wide range of romantic options, like couples massages with a few February-only perks: free champagne in crystal flutes, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate cherry scones.
Or, just let your darling relax. Chocolate pedicures (with hot cocoa) and rose body polish are on special for this holiday weekend.
Daniel Vineyards Wine & Dine
Snag two of the limited seats at Daniel Vineyard’s private wine tasting, and upgrade your traditional Valentine’s Day dinner date with wine pairings from the award-winning local vineyard. A full 3-course meal, plus a port & chocolate pairing for dessert. Even more impressive: enjoy live entertainment as you indulge.
Adventures on the Gorge Gourmet
If you want to stick to a classic idea like dinner, make it 5-star. Smokey’s on the Gorge will be serving up a gourmet menu including beef tenderloin, lobster tail and roasted chicken, with potatoes and a variety of veggies alongside soup and the restaurant’s famously fancy salad bar. There will also be a dessert bar if you can still handle more after that mega-dinner. You won’t have to go too far to find comfortable accommodations for the evening. There are cabins with every level of luxury right on the adventure resort campus. (Perhaps awake for an early morning zip trip the next day – they have a special on that as well!)
Tamarack Concert
Award-winning singer/songwriter John Ellison, who brought us one of history’s greatest hits, “Some Kind of Wonderful,” will perform at Tamarack on Valentine’s Day weekend. The opening band is a groovy West Virginia favorite, The Carpenter Ants. For a full-day date, start with a stroll around the artisan complex to pick out locally crafted gifts for each other. Stay until Sunday, and you can also catch the Greenbrier Academy for Girls Traditional African Drumming.
