Summer Fun In Summers County

Spend your summer in Summers County, the southeastern entrance of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

At the center of the county is Hinton, a historic rail town where the New, Greenbrier and Bluestone rivers meet. Surrounded by water, it’s an ideal place to cool off with kayaking, tubing, rafting or a day at the water park.

North of Hinton is Sandstone Falls, the largest waterfall on the New River. Stretching 1,500 feet wide with drops up to 25 feet, it marks the river’s dramatic transformation. Take in the incredible view from boardwalks, bridges and overlooks. For more outdoor recreation, visit nearby Pipestem Resort State Park and Bluestone State Park
