Piney Creek Preserve
The Piney Creek Preserve in Beckley is a developing 613-acre recreational and conservation area just minutes from downtown. Managed by the West Virginia Land Trust in partnership with the City of Beckley, the preserve will feature 20 miles of scenic hiking and biking trails. These trails will take visitors past historic coal mining sites, mine benches, and beautiful waterfalls like Little White Stick Falls and Cranberry Creek Cascades. The preserve highlights the area’s coal heritage and ongoing conservation efforts, particularly water protection, ensuring the health of Piney Creek, which flows into the New River. The Waterfall Hollow Trail, the first of many, offers a glimpse into the area's natural and historical significance.
