Location: Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park

Join local birders on Saturday, July 11th for a summer bird walk at Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park! This trip will be led by local guides Daniel Rubianto and Steven Wilson.
Meet at the parking lot near the playground and picnic shelters at the Park’s southern end at 7:30 AM. The walk will go down a section of the Patterson Trail exploring mature hardwood forests and overlooks of the Gauley River for species such as Scarlet Tanager, Hooded Warbler, and Black-throated Green Warbler. Upon exiting the Patterson Trail, the walk will go along the Park’s main road, exploring edge and lawn habitats looking for species such as Chipping Sparrow, Great-crested Flycatcher, and Eastern Bluebird. The 1.5-mile loop will be both paved and dirt.
Please bring binoculars, water, sturdy hiking shoes, and some snacks. This event is free and open to the public!
