The Bill Withers Statue Unveiling Ceremony will be held at the Bill Withers Plaza on top of the Beckley Intermodal Gateway, Neville Street, Beckley.
In addition to the ceremony celebrating the installation of the statue, the plaza will feature musical playground equipment and interpretive signage.
Bill Withers grew up in Beckley. He wrote and recorded timeless songs such as Lean on Me, Lovely Day, Ain’t No Sunshine, Grandma’s Hands, Just the Two of Us, and others. He won three Grammy awards and was inducted into several Music Halls of Fame.
