Alderson 4th of July Celebration

June 29 July 8

West Virginia’s Best 4th of July Celebration is fun for everyone.  Featuring:  bike, car and horse shows, 5K, “Ducks on the Greenbrier”, contests, arts & crafts, Kid’s activities, a parade, live music and of course Fireworks!

Saturday June 29
8am: Youth Bicycle Race Registration – (Corner of Virginia & Elmwood Streets) (3 age divisions) 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12
9am: Youth Bicycle Race – Sponsored by Tri-County Fire Company
12:30pm: Dirt Race (Race Start) – (117 Greenbrier River Estates, Alderson, WV, Glen Ray Road) Gates open for participants at 9:00am, Tech & Registration starts at 11:30 a.m., Admission: 13 & up – $10, 7-12 – $5 & 6 and under FREE. Bring your own chair, (Rain or Shine) 

Sunday June 30

12:30pm: Mud Bog (Race Start) – (117 Greenbrier River Estates, Alderson, WV, Glen Ray Road) Gates open for participants at 9:00a.m., Tech & Registration starts at 11:30 a.m., Admission: 13 & up – $10, 7-12 – $5 & 6 and under FREE. Bring your own chair, (Rain or Shine) 

Thursday July 4

8am: Parade Line Up – (Alderson Elementary School on Virginia St.) Line up depends on your arrival. 

10am – 3pm: Alderson 4th of July Car Show – (Old Greenbrier Baptist Church Parking Lot) North Monroe St. – Presented by Tahoe Farm Club

10:30am: 2024 Grand Parade – Queens, floats, cars, bicycles, tractors, horses and fire engines. Trophies and prizes in all categories. Something for everyone! After parade, trophies and prizes can be picked up at Alderson Memorial Football Field. Alderson Train Depot Open For Visitors During Parade

1pm: Presentation of Colors – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Introduction of Miss Fireworks and her court, 4th of July Salute, Awarding of parade prizes, Raising of flag by Greenbrier East High School JROTC and the VFW Post #6723

1pm – 9:30pm: WV Inflatables – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Bounce Houses & More! $5 wristbands per day. 

1:30pm: Field Events – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Afternoon filled with fun and events for everyone, Races of all kinds. 

4pm: Tug of War – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Greenbrier v. Monroe and Kids Tug of War

Football field will be cleared at 5pm, gates reopen at 6pm.  

7-10pm: Goodson Boys – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Admission: $5 per person for show and fireworks. Children 6 and under FREE. Bring your own chair – (Rain or Shine) wide variety of music

10:15pm: Grand Fireworks Display – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) The Alderson Fire Department & Tri-County Fire Company will put on the best show in Greenbrier County featuring marvelous aerial and ground displays. $5 per person for show & fireworks. Children 6 & under FREE

Friday July 5

7-10pm: Firemen’s Rodeo – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) FREE Admission, Come watch local and surrounding fire departments compete – Sponsored by Alderson Fire Department & EMS

Saturday July 6

7:30-8am: Run for Snacks 5K Registration – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) 

9am: Run for Snacks 5K Race & Kids Fun Run – Walk or Run Event. All ages welcome. 

8-9am: Registration for Kids Fishing Tournament – (Alderson Mini Park) 

9am-12pm: Kids Fishing Tournament – (Alderson Mini Park) Ages 3-15, Sponsored by Sunshine Graphics, LLC and Greenbrier River Fly Fishing Classic. 

12-1pm: All American Baking Contest – (Johnson Mem. United Methodist Church) Entries must be dropped off between Noon – 1:00 p.m. 2024 Theme: Best Decorated 4th of July Cake. Adult and Children Divisions. Sponsored by Sunshine Dist. Little Debbie, Crawley, WV. 

2-4pm: Ice Cream Social – (Alderson Depot) Contact: Don Sutherland, Alderson Main Street

6-9pm: Open Mic Night – (Alderson Depot) Contact: Don Sutherland, Alderson Main Street 

7pm: Mr. Rexroad Contest – (Rexroad Supply Co.) A Mr. not so fabulous contest. 

7-10pm: Greener Pastures Band – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Bring your own chair – (Rain or shine) FREE admission

7-10pm: WV Inflatables – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Bounce Houses & More! $5 wristbands per day

Sunday July 7

11am: Sunday Worship Service – Alderson Area Churches cordially invite you to attend the church of your choice

1pm: 8th Annual Horse Show (117 Greenbrier River Estates, Alderson) Registration 10am, Negative Coggins required. 

1:30pm: River Events (Alderson Mini Park) Enjoy an afternoon of fun in the Greenbrier River. Bring your own chair. Men, Women and Children Anything That Floats Race!

6-10pm: WV Inflatables – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Bounce Houses & More! $5 wristbands per day

6-10pm: Gospel Sing – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of gospel music by various local artists. Sponsored by the Alderson River of Life Church of God. In the event of inclement weather, the gospel sing will be moved to the Alderson River of Life Church of God on Rt. 63. 

Monday July 8
6pm: Ducks on the Greenbrier – (Alderson Mini Park) Rubber Duck Race, Grand Prize $5,000 Cash and many other prizes.
