Have you booked your Bridge Day weekend? If not, better hurry!
Accommodations around the festival— from campsites to luxury cabins— tend to fill up for the weekend, and it can be hard to find an open spot if you wait!
There are plenty of reasons to stay and explore all weekend long:
- Taste of Bridge Day the evening before the festival
- Nearby car show throughout the day
- Active Southern WV’s scavenger hunt
- Chili and Cornbread Cook-Off in Fayetteville after Bridge Day
- Bridge Jam concert, featuring some of bluegrass’s most legendary artists
- Film about the building of the bridge at the Historic Fayette Theater
- Rafting on both the world-famous Gauley River and family-friendly New River all weekend (Final day of Gauley season!)
Not to mention all there is to explore everyday! Quaint downtown Fayetteville (named “America’s Coolest Small Town), and the vast New River Gorge National Park— the outdoor adventure central of the entire east coast.
But for those seeking cabins — there are only a few places left to stay nearby! Here are a few places that still had openings as of Sept 26th.
Fayette County Cabins:
- Breeze Hall
- Mill Creek Cabins
- Hemlock Haven (1 cabin!)
- Cabins by The Creek (at Chimney Corner Cafe)
Large Group Cabins in Fayette County:
- Garden Ground Mountain Cabins– sleeps 6-8 (depending on cabin)
- Appalachian New River Lodge – sleeps 16
- Bed, Bass and Beyond– sleeps 10
If you’re interested in rafting, the local outfitters may have a few cabins available for their whitewater guests. Snag a prime spot!
Nicholas County:
Nearby, on the North side of the Bridge.
- Wilderness Lake Chalets
- Carnifex Ferry Cottages
- Laurel Ridge Cabins
- Mountain Lake Campground and Cabins
- Rustic Retreat Cabins – (luxury cabins)
Raleigh County:
About half an hour away, stay near Beckley, the area’s commerce center.
Hotels in Beckley and surrounding area are still fairly open… but filling up fast!
