Wyoming Co Courthouse
This 1916 Neo-Classical Revival style building has staggeringly tall columns, and its lawn is also full of memorials and monuments.
Itmann, WV
During the 1950s and 60s, the mine at Itmann was the most productive in the state. One of many old coal towns in the area, was founded by I.T. Mann, for whom it was names. You can still see the company store, where miners bought their goods with the company-specific scrip they were paid. Many of the original houses are still standing, as well as the steel rail bridge and coal tipple.

Historic Downtown Mullens
With more than 75 historic structures, Mullens is a National Historic District rich with both rail and coal history. Stroll the streets and find the several large murals that pay homage to the Mullens’s story.
Wyoming County Historical Museum
Delve deeper into the rail and coal heritage of the area at the Historical Society’s museum. Admission is free, but it’s only open on a limited schedule, or by appointment.

Castle Rock Trail Head
This is a trail head to the Pinnacle Creek ATV Trail, part of the Hatfield-McCoy trails. It’s connected to two other trail systems, the Pocahontas and Indian Ridge trail systems, creating the largest continuous trail group on the HMT network. HMT has paired up with a credit union to offer low interest rates to help riders finance their trips to the trails. Permits are $26.50 for West Virginia residents and $50 for out-of-state visitors.
Pineville Autumnfest
The annual fall celebration is full of fun games, with contests from a chili cooking and pie eating to pumpkin decorating and races. The event always falls near Halloween, and is held in conjunction with the community haunted house. Tickets are less than $5 each, and group rates are available.
Horse Creek Wildlife Management Area
Gamesmen will enjoy a trip to the Horse Creek Wildlife Management Area, which is full of deer, raccoon and squirrels. The lake is also stocked with trout, bluegill, large mouth bass, and channel catfish.
