Ice Skating by Christmas lights!

Appalachian Coal Town Christmas at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine: enjoy lights, Christmas Carols, ice skating, and a trip inside the Earth!

Dates: November 28, 29, December 5 and 6 from 5-9 pm.  Underground tours and ice skating are included in the festival pass.

Dig underground into our region’s most iconic industry. Roll along the mantrip tracks into a real abandoned mine, with a veteran coal miner to share the tales of the boom days.

Holiday lights do seem to shimmer extra cheerfully after you emerge from an underground passage, after all. (All light displays are above ground)

It’s a trip through WV culture, but it’s certainly not some stodgy history lesson. Bring the whole family. After hearing the amazing tales about the mines, discover the Youth Museum’s hands-on exhibits.

Share the gift of mountain creativity with crafting vendors and shop in the gift shop where you will find unique coal creations, jewelry, and freshly made fudge!

And we of course can’t leave out our more traditional celebrations of the season, like ice skating, illuminated by a backdrop of a grand display of Christmas lights and decorations.
