It’s here— the State Fair of West Virginia!
Old-fashioned competitions and entertainment make the State Fair of West Virginia one of the nation’s best!
Music
Southern West Virginia’s enormous festival old-time ambience and entertainment in spades.
For starters, head to the grandstand for live music by top country, rock and bluegrass performers. Talents like country sensation Jake Owen, Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe and 60s cover band Yesterdayze will be there, among many others.
And if you prefer southern tunes, be sure to come on Mountain Music Trail Day on Aug. 20 for acoustic groups Aurora Celtic, Hell for Certain and Sugar Run!
Entertainment
Step away from the grandstand for even more shows. Watch trained sea lions, live cow births at Moo U, broncos and harness racing. Or, cross paths with characters like the Rhinestone Roper— a crafty hand with lassos, knives, whips and horses!
Tilt a Whirl and carousels!
The whole family can get silly. There are rides just for the littler kiddos, while taller folks can try Vertigo, Stinger, Starship 3000 and Gondola Wheel. The list goes on, too.
Competitions
If you’ve ever raised an animal or fell in love with “Charlotte’s Web,” watch a livestock show. It’s quite a spectacle!
Folks will also compete for best quilts, baked goods, flowers, needlework, fruit and vegetables.
Cotton candy, frozen lemonade and sticky fingers
Fuel all the excitement you can stand. The fair always has tons of vendors, and you can count on all the classics. Munch on traditional summer fare, pizza, BBQ, famous homemade cinnamon rolls and more.
At the State Fair, there’s always more.
