Buffalo Trail Cabins, Cottages, and Campground is tucked away in a peaceful wooded setting on Lorton Lick Road in Bluewell. Known for their real-life buffalo and proximity to the ATV trails, the resort is a great location to experience the wilderness and resort-style hospitality.
The resort is unique, from a restaurant and brewery to the tree house cabins that tower off the ground! They are available for rent beginning April 1.

Inspired from Animal Planet’s popular series, “Treehouse Master,” these 12-foot square mini cabins are a tenting experience that give you and 3 others a place to sleep for the night. However, these small cabins offer more than you may expect. You can also find:
- A Fire Pit
- A Picnic Table
- An Outdoor Water Faucet
- 2 Sets of Bunk Beds
- A Private 12×12 Deck
- An Outside Bath House (Climate controlled with a toilet, sink and shower)

- Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trail: Made up of 700+ miles of trails, the Hatfield-McCoy ATV Trail is one of the largest off-highway vehicle trail systems in the world. You can explore these trails on your own ATV, or purchase a rental at the nearby Appalachian Dual Sports Rentals or West Virginia ATV Rentals.
- Pinnacle Rock State Park: Go hiking, fishing or have a picnic at Pinnacle Rock. It’s a rock formation that stretches 3,100 feet above sea level!
- Wolf Creek Indian Village and Museum: This is no ordinary village! It’s a duplicate of an Indian Village that once stood near Bluefield, WV, in 1215. Some of the guides here can teach you primitive skills from that era.
- Pipestem Resort State Park: Overlooking the Bluestone Gorge, Pipestem Resort State Park offers plenty to see and do! You can take a ride on the aerial tram, play a round of foot golf (a mix of soccer and golf), or take a ride through the mountains on the back of a horse!
