This is a free event so do not fall for scammers\, registration is for our NPS permit. We encourage participants to carpool and use the upper lot at Fayette Station. SUMMARY:Fayetteville's Witches & Warlocks Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Gather with us for a Witches and Warlocks Stand Up Paddle on the New River on Sunday\, October 26th. We will be meeting at the upper Fayette Station Parking lot and beach area. Attendees need to sign a waiver and register in advance. Registration will open October 2 pending NPS permit approval. Attendees must know how to swim\, and wear PFDs. This event is not designed for first time paddlers. Paddlers must be confident in maneuvering boards with the risks associated with the river.We will launch at the upper beach at Fayette Station wearing PFDs paddling approximately 500 yards up stream on the flat water back to the beach. This is a leisure paddle but keep in mind that the current of the river can be challenging for beginners.This is a limited ticket event capped at a maximum of 80 participants to meet the requirements of our permit. If you reserve a spot and can’t attend\, please let us know so we can open the spots to give others a chance to join in the fun. This also allows us to have space for vehicle parking and allows for ease of launch and exit from the river. You must pre-register to attend and fill out a waiver. We encourage participants to carpool or utilize the upper overflow parking area at Fayette Station. We ask that participants pull into the upper beach parking lot to unload boards and then move vehicles to the upper overflow lot to allow more folks to get in and set up on their boards so we can fit everyone in. If water levels are too high on the river\, we will decide before the event if we need to relocate or cancel. For board rentals reach out to Mountain Surf Paddle Sports.

DESCRIPTION:The New River Gorge Stand Up Paddle Board Race will be held at Fayette Station on the New River. This event coincides with Gauley Festival to offer America’s Best Whitewater venues\, the New River and the Gauley River.\nThe event will consist of three race events. Proceeds will benefit the Fayette County Outdoor Club for local high school students.\nAttainment Race ~ this race is class one whitewater paddling upriver against the river current. This race is appropriate for beginner paddlers who have experience paddling on rivers.\nYouth SUP Race ~ a short buoy course to inspire young athletes.\nDownriver Whitewater Race ~ this mass start race offers head-to-head competition through class 2 and class 3 whitewater. Paddlers will also encounter long flat-water pools between rapids.\nRules for the race:\n– racers are required to use the same board for all events\n– racers are not to wear leashes with the head-to-head races\n– PFD and helmets are required\n– racers need to provide their own equipment\nRacers will receive:\n– snacks and water during the events\n– DJ tunes and announcements\n– the timing of the Attainment and Downriver Races\n– professional photos\n– race jerseys\n– after party awards with lunch\n– shuttle will be provided after the Downriver Race\nAdditional sponsors are needed.
