Lewisburg: America’s Coolest Small Town

Take a walk down Washington Street to absorb the bustling small town atmosphere and enjoy the eclectic shopping and dining scene. Take in a show at Carnegie Hall, one of four left in the world that is still in use. Also visit the Civil War Cemetery, the Old Stone Presbyterian Church and the North House Museum.

  • Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company features a 17-barrel brewhouse with 190 barrel fermentation capacity, plus a cozy taproom built from salvaged pallets and bourbon barrels. Stop by for a pint! There’s also Smooth Ambler Distillery, which makes whiskey, gin, vodka and more. Tours and tastings are available. For something different, head to Hawk Knob Hard Cider for cider made from heritage fruit.

  • Take a walk underground through one of the biggest caves in the Western Hemisphere. Massive stalagmites and monstrous stalactites dominate the main cavern that is larger than three football fields. Take a 45 minute self-guided tour to explore these wonders, and for those more adventurous, a guided wild cave tour is available.

  • The Greenbrier State Forest is a 5,200 acre forest located on the eastern border of West Virginia. The park offers hiking, fishing and swimming, as well as cabins and a campground. The state forest is only 8 miles from Lewisburg.
