DESCRIPTION:Bridgewalk: “For The Walk Of Your Life”  WV Day & Fathers Day specials for $39 per person\, dads walk “FREE”\nBridge Walk offers guided tours of the New River Gorge Bridge from the catwalk 25’ beneath the Bridge. The tours are 2-3 hours in length. After checking in\, Bridge Walk guests are shuttled to the Canyon Rim Visitor’s Center on the north side of the Bridge. A short path leads to the Bridge where guests enter the catwalk in the midst of the massive iron structure. \nThe catwalk is 24″ wide with a substantial railing. Before beginning the tour\, guests are securely fastened onto a safety cable making it impossible to fall from the Bridge during a tour. The Bridge Walk guests walk the entire 3\,030-foot length of the Bridge and then are shuttled back to the Bridge Walk headquarters. Bridge tours move along at a leisurely pace and there is plenty of time to stop for photos and to discuss features of the Bridge\, New River Gorge\, and National Park with your guide.

DESCRIPTION:Free and open to the public! \nFrom 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday\, June 25\, the City of Beckley will welcome over 100 of the world’s finest antique automobiles. The Great Race is the world’s premiere time\, speed and endurance rally open to cars built in 1974 and earlier are eligible\, with most entries having been manufactured before World War II. \nA 1916 Hudson Pikes Peak Hillclimber and a 1917 Peerless racer are the oldest cars scheduled to be in the 2021 Great Race. \nThe event’s opening ceremonies will begin around 5:30 pm with the first racer crossing the downtown finish line soon after. The rest of the racers will arrive in town roughly one minute apart throughout the evening. \nParticipating food vendors will include: Appalachian Kettle Corn\, Chick-fil-A\, The Cast Iron Cafe\, Flynn’s hotdogs\, Brothers Marsh BBQ\, and MAD Concessions. \nThe Antique Automobile Club of America – WV Whitewater Region and Shade Tree Car Club will be featuring local antique and collectable cars as well as assisting with the event. \nDowntown will offer plenty of parking for spectators at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway garage or along the side streets. DESCRIPTION:Join as Travis Henline of Wheeling will enact Francis H. Pierpont\, governor of the “Restored Government of Virginia” following secession in 1861. Pierpont is widely acclaimed as the “Father of West Virginia” Immediately after Raleigh County Historical Society will hold a brief dedication of two markers commemorating the mysterious Ferguson Rock. the rock is the oldest known Beckley landmark and bears the inscribed date “1814.” It has been on display at Wildwood since 2018. One commemorative marker was designed by RCHS. The second is a Legends & Lore marker procured via a competitive grant from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation of Syracuse\, New York.
