Unfortunately\, nothing worked out quite as it was supposed to – years later\, Hedwig is leading her rock band on a tour of the U.S.\, telling her life story through a series small concerts in local live music venues. Her tour dates coincide with those of arena-rock star Tommy Gnosis\, a wide-eyed boy who once loved Hedwig – but then left with all her songs. \nDoors open 30 minutes before showtime.

SUMMARY:Armida Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Beckley Concert Association presents Armida Quartet.\nSince its success at the ARD International Competition in 2012\, where the Armida Quartet took First Prize\, the Audience Prize and six other special awards\, the career of the young Berlin string quartet has developed at a sensational pace. Founded in Berlin in 2006\, the quartet took its name from an opera by Haydn\, the “father of the string quartet”. \nThe Armida String Quartet is comprised of Martin Funda and Johanna Staemmler on violins\, Teresa Schwamm on viola\, and Peter-Philipp Staemmler on cello. The group performs internationally and has performed in no less than 22 of Europe’s major concert halls. \nThis engagement of Armida Quartet is made possible through the Special Presenter Initiatives program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with the support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History. \nPerformance begins at 7:30 pm at Woodrow Wilson High School Auditorium in Beckley.

Each a consummate concert artist in his own right\, DeGraff and Morris bring to the stage an astounding level of technique matched only by their heartfelt passion and daredevil\, off-the-cuff\, improvisational risk-taking. They were enjoyed by all when they performed in Beckley in 2008. \nPerformance starts at 7:30 at Woodrow Wilson High School Auditorium in Beckley.
