DESCRIPTION:***We will be practicing social distancing and following guidelines set forth by the Governor of WV.***\nWith the unusual circumstances due to the Covid-19 Pandemic\, the famous Kirkwood Winery Grape Stomp Festival has sadly been canceled this year. However\, it is important for us to give back to our community. So\, the race will go on as planned on Saturday\, September 19\, 2020. Kirkwood Winery will be donating our proceeds from the 5k to Move Mountains for Macie.\nMacie Riner and parents\, Jahden and Melissa are residents of Mt. Lookout\, WV. Macie was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type 1 on August 7\, 2019. The genetic muscular disease robs kids of their ability to walk\, sit\, and eventually breathe. SMA is the #1 genetic killer for kids under the age of 2. However\, there is now treatment! Macie received Zolgensma\, the gene therapy for SMA type 1. It is a treatment\, not a cure. Macie receives another drug through lumbar puncture every 4 months called Spinraza. In her one year of life\, Macie has spent 2.5 months in the hospital with 4 different admissions. She has pulled through circumstances that the doctors thought she wouldn’t. Treatment alone has already cost over 3 million dollars. The outpouring of support both\, financial and through the power of prayer\, has God moving mountains for Macie every single day. #movemountainsformacie\nHelp us support Move Mountains for Macie!
