SUMMARY:Naturally 7 Free Concert
DESCRIPTION:Carnegie Hall presents vocal group Naturally 7 this Thursday\, May 21\, at 8 p.m.\nSeven guys. Multiple ways of making music using only their voices. What they do is far more than a-cappella. They are a band without a band. \nHaving met in school and gospel choir they quickly discovered that they were doing more than just singing songs\, they all discovered perfect hypervocal capabilities. That’s why Naturally 7 call their music “vocal play.” Every band member has his preferred style or favorite songs\, and together they can interpret them all. Naturally 7 summons up soul\, rap\, rock\, and folk in one harmonious balance. \nNowadays they have famous fans such as Michael Bublé (whom they joined on three world tours)\, Coldpay (“Fix you“ is one of the finest adaptions of music you can imagine)\, Quincy Jones (who called them “best a-cappella band worldwide”)\, Herbie Hancock (listen to their H. Hancock medley)\, and many others. \nTheir repertoire is a mix of their own compositions and cover versions. \nJoin us Thursday!

SUMMARY:The Grove-Drive In Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Station and The Grove WV team up to present the Drive-In Concert Series. The shows will be held at The Station’s parking lot in Fayetteville\, WV. Each ticket holder will be designated a parking spot that adheres to social distancing guidelines set by the state of WV. Ticket holders will be given a link with their purchase that will connect them with the live streamed audio. Plug your mobile device into your car stereo for the audio\, and watch all the action from the stage. Big thanks to the Visit Fayetteville\, WV for their help!\nMinimum of two ticket holders per car. Kids 12 and under free. \nPlease purchase all tickets under one transaction if possible. \nDue to parking restraints\, no cars are allowed to leave the lot until the show is over. \nThe Company Stores are a modern rock band from Charleston\, WV. Their 2017 sophomore album\, Little Lights\, recorded at Echo Mountain Studio with Grammy winning producer Julian Dreyer\, has been getting phenomenal reviews\, and is being spun all over the U.S. and Canada. Described by Skope Magazine as being led by “Soulful\, sultry vocals\, a funky horn section\, and a gritty backbeat”\, the band “links Appalachian folk influences with a progressive\, electronic sound that isn’t afraid to break boundaries” and “explores the vastness of rock and all it has to offer.” \nGroundhog Gravy were lucky enough to cross paths in Fayetteville\, West Virginia. It was due to the white-water this particular Appalachian area provides\, these musicians were brought together. This “white-water capital of the world” allowed one passion in each member’s life to lead to another passion – music. What had started off as acoustic\, beatnik\, grass-funkin’ on the front porch of the “Bungahole” (guide camp)\, has evolved into an electric\, groove filled\, rock and roll band with deep funk fusion\, blues roots\, and a splash of dub that blend together in a way that astonishes listeners. One cannot help but tap their feet\, sway their shoulders\, bob their head and let themselves dissolve into the music. \nPlease abide by all West Virginia state open container and alcohol laws and regulations.

SUMMARY:Virtual Move Your Way REFIT
DESCRIPTION:Join Active SWV Refit Community Captains for a Special Move Your Way Edition class\, Monday June 8th at 6:30pm. Post a comment in the event page to get you link to this awesome virtual event.\nWhat does “virtual” mean? This means you will check in online with this event page to interact with the Community Captains and participate right in the comfort of your own home. \nActive Southern West Virginia is honored to be selected as one of eight participating pilot sites for the national Move Your Way campaign for 2020 from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP). With this recognition comes a team from Communicate Health to support launch events\, social media campaigns\, and educational resources to share with people across southern West Virginia. \nThe goal of the campaign is to promote the recommendations from the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. \nhttps://health.gov/our-work/physical-activity/current-guidelines \nAdults – Need moderate-intensity aerobic activity for 150 minutes a week and muscle strengthening activities 2 days a week. \nTeens and kids – Teens and kids ages 6 to 17 need 60 minutes of activity every day. Most of their 60 minutes can be moderate-intensity aerobic activity; anything that gets their heart beating faster counts. And at least 3 days a week\, encourage them to step it up to vigorous-intensity aerobic activity\, so they’re breathing fast and their heart is pounding. \nAs part of their daily 60 minutes\, kids and teens also need: Muscle-strengthening activity at least 3 days a week Anything that makes their muscles work harder counts\, like climbing or swinging on the monkey bars. Bone-strengthening activity at least 3 days a week. Bones need pressure to get stronger. Running\, jumping\, and other weight-bearing activities all count. \nMove Your Waysm helps people make small changes that can lead to big health benefits. In the long term\, regular physical activity can help prevent chronic health problems like type 2 diabetes. In the short term\, even small increases in physical activity can boost mood\, reduce stress\, and improve sleep. \nhttps://health.gov/moveyourway \nSo\, join us in promoting our local Move Your Way campaign. By spreading the word that physical activity is something everyone can do\, you can help people in our community get more active and live longer\, healthier lives.

SUMMARY:Neighborhood Car Cruise
DESCRIPTION:Neighborhood Car Cruise planned on June 27 to start at Tamarack\nBeckley Events\, along with three car clubs – Shade Tree\, Smooth Impressions and AACA\, plan to offer a car cruise on Saturday\, June 27\, beginning at Tamarack. \nThe June 27 (rain date – July 11) cruise will line-up at Tamarack (lower lot by side steps) and cruise along Dry Hill Road\, driving past Morgan Hills and Pine Hills and by the edge of Jamescrest\, then over to Dearing Drive/Maxwell Hill Road\, turning right onto Maxwell Hill Road and following to Robert C. Byrd Drive. \n\nThe AACA (Antique Automobile) Car Club’s National Rally was originally scheduled to be at Tamarack on June 26-27\, but the rally had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Local members of the AACA are invited to participate in this cruise to show off their antique vehicles. \nIn addition to those vehicle owners who wish to show their unique rides\, recent 2020 graduates are welcome to ride in the cruises. Musicians\, organizations\, businesses\, mascots and costumed characters can also ride in the cruises to help bring joy to residents. Birthday parade entries can be included with the cruise to celebrate residents along the route whose birthday is on the cruise date. \nThe cruises line-up between 4:00 and 4:30 pm\, and the ride begins around 4:40 pm – the rides normally take from 20 minutes to an hour to complete the route. If you do not live along the route\, you can watch from your car in a parking lot along the route. Please continue social distancing whether you participate in the vehicle line-up or watch from a parking lot. \nFive neighborhood cruises have happened so far in 2020 with weekly participation ranging from 60 vehicles to 140 vehicles. The organizers wish to thank everyone who has participated in or watched the cruises. For more details\, follow Beckley Events or Shade Tree or Smooth Impressions Car Club’s Facebook pages or call 304-256-1776.

SUMMARY:Kids Run Club Summer Sampler
DESCRIPTION:Join Active SWV from 11-1 every Tuesday at the Fayetteville Town Park and every Thursday at Collins Park in Oak Hill for Adventure Day actovoties including Active SWV’s Kids Run Club Summer Sampler!\nSo what is the Kids Run Club Summer Sampler? \nThere are four parts of every Kids Run Club practice – a dynamic warm up\, a running exercise\, a game or fun activity\, and cool down stretches. As part of the Kids Run Club Summer Sampler\, you can do any or all of these activities at the park every Tuesday and Thursday! Active SWV will have the following options available: \nDynamic warm-up station: Warming gets your muscles moving and stretched out so you don’t injure yourself when you start your workout. Active SWV’s warm-up station will have some squats\, star jumps\, high knees\, and more for you to get your muscles moving. \nRun laps around the field: After you warm up\, run laps around the field and see how many laps you can do! After you reach 10 laps\, you’ll get a toe token as a prize. Running laps will help you build your endurance and make you stronger and faster. \nObstacle course fun: It’s important to have fun when you exercise too. We’ll have an awesome obstacle course set up that you can run through as many times as you want. Count how many times you can do it\, or time yourself and try to beat your best time. \nCool-down stretching station: After you run laps and/or do the obstacle course\, it’s good to cool down your body by stretching out your muscles. This helps with mobility\, and keeps you from being stiff and sore the next day after being really active. At the cool-down stretching station\, we’ll have spots where you can stretch out your leg muscles like quadriceps\, hamstrings\, and calves\, and your upper body muscles like triceps\, shoulders\, and abdominals. \nFun Run \nThe final component of any Kids Run Club is the season ending Fun Run! The Kids Run Club Summer Sampler will have a scheduled Fun Run Day at the end of July that you don’t want to miss! Participants will get a Kids Run Club medal and an Active SWV wristband as a prize for attending the Summer Sampler. \nRegistration: \nPlease check in with Coda at 10:45am. There is not a reservation system\, but space is limited in accordance with Health Department and CDC guidelines around social distancing. \nActive SWV will have a sign in sheet by our activity stations so we can keep track of who participates\, and we’ll also issue an attendance sticker card with a lanyard to each child who comes to the Kids Run Club Summer Sampler. Please be sure to bring the lanyard and card to each session you attend!

SUMMARY:Opening Market Day-Fayetteville Farmers Market
DESCRIPTION:The time has finally arrived that we are opening our markets. We have really missed each other and all our customers. We will have a few vendors starting with more to come as the season progresses. Please stop by and visit with us and help support our local farmers and vendors. We appreciate everyones support. We have moved our day in Oakhill from Tuesdays to Thursdays from 2-6pm and will be open there starting May 14th beside DHHR on Virginia St\, Then\, in Fayetteville\, we will start May 16th\, every Saturday\, from 8am-1230pm on The Station Restaurants lot on Court St. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.\nWe are also\, currently\, taking applications for new vendors\, especially produce vendors. This year\, we had to do a limit on certain items that we are currently at capacity. We\, still\, take all applications into consideration. We have also decided to allow Artisan and Crafters at every sale but will be accepting a limited number of items. We have limited space\, so we are trying to accommodate everyone possible.\nIf you grow a garden\, no matter the amount of produce you have\, please put in an application and come join us! We would love to have you. Please contact us for application on our messenger or call 304-982-0666. Thanks
