SUMMARY:Gritty Chix Mud Run
DESCRIPTION:Voted #1 Mud Run/Adventure Race in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic\, in 2020 Best of the Blue Ridge Readers’ Choice Awards by Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine! Gritty Chix Mud Run is back to ACE Adventure Resort this summer and we are ready to jump back into all that mud! You choose – the 5k Tenacious Trail or the Moxie Mile? Both woodland trails converge on the mud obstacle course. Obstacles have varying degrees of difficulty\, but all are manageable. Upper body strength is helpful and you have the option to bypass any obstacle you’re not comfortable tackling. Go for it before going around it – try to complete each one. It’s all about excitement\, laughter\, and camaraderie so we encourage applause\, hoots\, hollers\, and lending a helping hand. Water and first aid are stationed along the trails and at the finish line. Gritty Chix Mud Run always supports a great local cause too. Stay tuned for our benefactor announcement soon.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and\npack a picnic to enjoy live music. All-Ivy Terrace concerts are free and open to the public.\nCeltic-tinged folk-rock collective The River Drivers is a four-piece band whose unique passion-infused\nstyle of music draws from Celtic\, Americana\, and Appalachian influences and features powerful and\ndistinctive vocals. Influenced by the likes of Billy Bragg\, Christy Moore\, Ewan MacColl\, Phil Ochs\, Bob\nDylan\, Neil Young\, the Paul McKenna Band\, and Altan\, among many others\, their repertoire strikes a fine\nbalance of original songs and more obscure folk songs resurrected from deep folk vaults.\nAnchored by Kevin McCloskey (vocals\, guitar\, mandolin\, banjo\, bass) and Mindy Murray (vocals\, guitar\,\nbanjo\, bass) with accompaniment by Marian Moran (tin whistle\, low whistle\, concertina\, melodica) and\nMeagan Ratini (fiddle\, Irish flute\, tin whistle)\, their high-energy music explores pervasive themes of\nhard-working people and social justice.\nRiver Drivers’ distinct flavor of music is a sum of its parts. Kevin McCloskey’s passion for songs portraying\nthe plight of working men and women was kindled by a childhood of performing Irish standards with his\nfather\, Irish tenor Tommy McCloskey. The intensity he brings to his music was shaped by years with the\nhardcore punk band Wrong Answer.\nMindy Murray’s works are infused with the music of the mountains and the miners\, having witnessed\nfirsthand the struggles of day-to-day life in Appalachia during medical school. Years later\, she and\ndaughter Meagan Ratini formed the duo\, Port Murray. Meagan herself fell into Irish music over many\nyears of mastering instrument after instrument. She became further immersed while helping to run the\nNew Jersey Folk Festival.\nMarian’s roots lie in Ardara\, County Donegal\, an epicenter of Irish traditional music. Whenever she can\nbreak away\, she steals back to the rugged coastline village to recharge at its nightly sessions and music\nfestivals\, eventually bringing River Drivers over to perform at its famous Cup of Tae Festival.\nThe 2022 Carnegie Hall Ivy Terrace Concert Series is a “must-do” for visitors and locals alike.
