DESCRIPTION:Why should kids have all the fun? Join us for Fayetteville’s Adult Easter Egg Hunt. This is a fundraising event\, thank you for your support! You will not want to miss out on this “Eggciting” opportunity. We will have hundreds of eggs hidden all over. Many of the eggs will be filled with coupons to redeem “Eggcellent” prizes. \nYou must have a wristband to participate and be 21 or older to enter the hunt. To make it a little more challenging you will be hunting for the eggs in the dark. Join us for a fun glow-in-the-dark night hunt! \nThis is a rain or shine event. All participants must wear a facemask unless they have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask. We will have a limited number of tickets for this year’s event\, preregistration is required. There is a 10 egg limit per participant.  \nStay tuned as we update our prize list! \nWristbands can be purchased after March 1st at the CVB or online. \n$15 for 1 ticket. \n$10 Suprise Egg Bag ( must pick up from visitor center) \nIf you would like to participate in the fun\, but do not feel comfortable attending the in-person event you can register to pick up a surprise egg bag from the Fayetteville Visitor Center. Each bag contains 3 random eggs. SUMMARY:Exhibition Coal Mine Opening Day
DESCRIPTION:The Pocahontas Exhibition Mine is an educational look at underground coal mining in southwest Virginia. Coal was first mined there in 1882 and the mine operated for 73 years. With a 13-foot tall coal seam\, the mine was proud to fuel the American Navy. The mine is open Wed-Sat from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. From to September. If you have a group of 12 or more you can schedule a tour at any time by calling 276-945-9522. Admission for adults is $10.00 and children are $8.00. Children that are under the age of six can see the mine and the museum for free.

Learn the exciting process of creating a cyanotype photogram!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nWhat it’s all about: 🔵 💡\nCyanotype:\nCyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings\, referred to as blueprints. The process uses two chemicals: ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. \n**Students will learn basic cyanotype printing techniques for the printing of photo-grams. Students will learn a short history of cyanotypes\, learn to coat different types of paper and fabric and to use objects from nature and around the house to make photo-gram prints. \n**Students will have the option of constructing 6 – 5×7 prints or 3 – 8 x 10 prints on paper. One fabric piece will be available to each student\, as well. \n  \nMaterials List:\nAll materials will be provided; however\, it is optional for students to bring from home or gather from nature their own objects to create their photograms with. The first leg is on the walking path around the lake. It then ventures up the mountain to the campground and down the hill on the road. The last leg is around the lake on the road and finishes just yards away from Shelter #2. Feast your eyes on beautiful paintings and pottery\, locally-made soaps\, jewelry\, and much more!\nThe day kicks off with community yoga on the Court House lawn\, followed by educational activities promoting environmental protection\, local businesses\, kids games\, and interactive booths\, and ending with local live music downtown! The farmer’s market is open all day\, selling fresh\, locally grown treats including baked goods\, coffee\, spices\, and herbal remedies.\nThe week of Earth Day we will have several opportunities to give back to your community! Highway clean-up\, Town clean-up\, River clean-up\, and Tree Planting at the New Roots Community Farm!\nWe are excited about the county-wide Earth Day Celebration!
