DESCRIPTION:Monroe Trails Day officially kicks off May 1st with an organized hike launching from the Hanging Rock parking lot at 1 PM. There will be two hike options\, one is a two-hour hike starting and ending at the parking area. This will be the perfect wildflower walk and birding outing. The other is an approximately four-hour hike following the Allegheny Trail to the Salt Sulphur Turnpike with a shuttle return upon the conclusion. Both hike options will pass Hanging Rock and will have guides experienced to share their knowledge about flora and fauna. Pack a lunch or pick up some snacks on-site from event sponsors Friends of Monroe and the Gap Mills Ruritan Club. Here is the perfect chance to experience a group hike\, experience 360-degree mountain top views\, and see what lies beyond Hanging Rock. SUMMARY:New River Gorge Rim to Rim 10K Race
DESCRIPTION:The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a running road race from one side of the New River Gorge to the other. This bucket-list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in Fayetteville\, the adventure sports capital of West Virginia. Hosted by Adventures on the Gorge\, racers will have access to resort amenities and finish at the rim-side pool with a catered brunch.\nRegistration opens January 3\, 2022 at 12pm through RunSignUp.\nThe course will begin on the south side of the New River Gorge on Fayette Station Road – Route 82 and will follow Burma Road and Ames Heights Road. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1\,300 feet and a climb of 1\,300 feet with the steepest point being a 20% incline. The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame.

SUMMARY:New River Gorge Rim to Rim 10K Race
DESCRIPTION:The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a running road race from one side of the New River Gorge to the other. This bucket-list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in Fayetteville\, the adventure sports capital of West Virginia. Hosted by Adventures on the Gorge\, racers will have access to resort amenities and finish at the rim-side pool with a catered brunch.\nRegistration opens January 3\, 2022 at 12pm through RunSignUp.\nThe course will begin on the south side of the New River Gorge on Fayette Station Road – Route 82 and will follow Burma Road and Ames Heights Road. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1\,300 feet and a climb of 1\,300 feet with the steepest point being a 20% incline. The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course but must maintain a 20-minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame.
