SUMMARY:Theatre WV: Tarzan
DESCRIPTION:Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure and Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes\, Tarzan features heart-pumping music by rock legend\, Phil Collins\, and a book by Tony Award-winning playwright\, David Henry Hwang. High-flying excitement and hits\, like the Academy Award-winning “You’ll Be in My Heart\,” as well as “Son of Man” and “Two Worlds\,” make Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical experience.\nWashed up on the shores of West Africa\, an infant boy is taken in and raised by gorillas who name him Tarzan. Apart from striving for acceptance from his ape father\, Tarzan’s life is mostly monkey business until a human expedition treks into his tribe’s territory\, and he encounters creatures like himself for the first time. Tarzan struggles to navigate a jungle\, thick with emotion\, as he discovers his animal upbringing clashing with his human instincts. \nA title that is recognizable the world over\, Tarzan is a powerhouse of a musical that will be a major ticket seller in a theatre’s season while offering endless opportunities for creative staging\, costuming\, and set design.

SUMMARY:Ivy Terrace Concert - Richard Hefner & Friends
DESCRIPTION:Richard Hefner started picking banjo in 1967 and the next year formed one of West Virginia’s longest-running bluegrass bands\, Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys. The group first organized in 1968 and took their name from Black Mountain in their native Pocahontas County. Hefner remains as the lone original member.\nRichard Hefner picks the banjo in the style of Don Reno\, Ralph Stanley\, and Earl Scruggs and is able to sing and back himself up at the same time. Fiddler Blaine Sprouse\, guitarist Dave Bing\, and other local musicians will join him for the Ivy Terrace concert.\nIvy Terrace concerts are a community favorite and a big reason why Lewisburg\, West Virginia\, is considered one of the “coolest small towns in America.” The groups perform outside on Carnegie Hall’s Ivy Terrace as attendees watch from the expansive lawn in front of New River Community and Technical College. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and pack a picnic to enjoy the live\, outdoor concerts. All-Ivy Terrace concerts are free\, open to the public\, and alcohol-free.

SUMMARY:Beckley Gaming Expo
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Beckley Gaming Expo for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament! This is a buy-in $10 tournament with a prize pool of $500!\nBig shout out to our tournament sponsors… \nSee More\n\n\n\n\n\nTournament Rules\n\n\n*A purchased ticket for the Beckley Gaming Expo is required to enter the tournament\, plus the $10-buy in. Pre-registration will be set up before the tournament begins\, the day of.\nBeckley Gaming Expo 2021 Ruleset\nSmash Ultimate 1v1\nGeneral Rules\nCustom Balance: Off\nDamage Handicap: Off\nDouble Elimination (Round Robin if not enough players)\nFS Meter: Off\nHandicap: Off\nHazard Toggle: Off\nItems: Off\nLaunch Rate: 1.0x\nMii: All move-set combinations are legal\nPause: Off\nSets are best of 3 games. (Top 8 will be best of 5 games)\nShow Damage: Yes\nSpirits: Off\nStage Hazards: Off\nStage Morph: Off\nStage Selection: Loser’s Pick\nStock: 3 for Singles and Doubles\nTeam Attack: On (Doubles)\nTimer: 7 minutes for Singles and Doubles\nUnderdog Boost: Off\n\nStage list – Ultimate\nBattlefield\nSmall Battlefield\nFinal Destination\nPokemon Stadium 2\nLylat Cruise\nSmashville\nKalos Pokemon League\nTown & City\nYoshi’s Island\nDreamland 64\nNote: All Omega and Battlefield variations are allowed. However\, if a player wins on Battlefield\, they cannot choose a Battlefield variation during the same set. The same applies to Omega/Final Destination. See note below.\nSet Procedure\nUse the stage list to determine the first stage. If players agree upon the first stage\, the procedure continues. If not\, players play a best-of-1 Rock-Paper-Scissors\, and the winner chooses the first stage.\nPlayers select their characters.\nThe players play the first game of the set\nThe losing player/team of the preceding game picks a stage for the next game.\nNote: A player/team may not pick any stage they previously won on during the set.\nThe winning player/team of the preceding game may choose to change characters.\nThe losing player/team of the preceding game may choose to change characters.\nThe next game is played.\nRepeat Steps 4 through 8 for all subsequent games until the set is complete.\nPausing and the Home Button\nThe pause setting is to be set to off. However\, if it is not\, pausing is only legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform\, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game. If the pause causes the opponent to lose a stock\, the pausing player receives a game loss. This rule also applies to controllers which cause the game to revert to the Switch home screen.\nStalling\nStalling\, or intentionally making the game unplayable\, is banned and at the discretion of tournament staff. Stalling includes but is not limited to becoming invisible\, continuing infinites past 300%\, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you. Stalling will result in a forfeit of the game for the player that initiated the action.\nController Disconnects\nIf a player’s controller becomes disconnected for any reason other than outside interference (for example\, if a player walks by a setup and accidentally trips on a cord and unplugs it)\, it counts as if the player paused the game and follows the same penalties. (An example would be a pro controller battery dying mid-set).\nSelf-Destruct Moves\nIf a game ends with a self-destruct move (Example: Ganondorf Side-B)\, the results screen will determine the winner. If a sudden death occurs\, standard sudden death rules apply.\nSudden Death\nIf a game goes to Sudden Death (time expires)\, the winner is determined by stocks and percentage at the time the game ends. If both players are tied in stocks the player with the lower percentage is the winner. In the event of a percentage tie\, or a game in which both players lose their last stock simultaneously\, a 1 stock tiebreaker will be played with a 3-minute time limit. The results of an in-game 300% Sudden Death do not count. If Sudden Death occurs in a Sudden Death game\, this process is repeated.\nWarm-ups\nWarm-up periods\, button checks\, and “hand warmers” may not exceed 30 seconds on the game clock.\nTardiness\nAnyone who is not present for their set by 15 minutes past the scheduled start time is subject to a total disqualification from the event.\n\n\nMisinterpretation/Misconfiguration\nGames or sets are not to be replayed due to a misinterpretation of the rules OR misconfiguration of game settings. Game settings should be configured according to the “General Rules” section. It is the players’ responsibility to ask the TO for any clarification of the rule set in the event of a disagreement\, and the outcome of a game or set will not be changed after the fact unless under extreme circumstances\, judgment reserved for tournament staff.\n\nFinal Rulings\nIf any unforeseen situations occur\, the judgment of the Tournament Staff is final. Rules may be altered between phases of a tournament in the best interests of the event. (Example: A game-breaking glitch is discovered on a stage mid-tournament that could be exploited. Thus\, the stage may need to be removed from legal play for the remainder of the event.)\nControllers\nAny controller will be supported that does not use a macro or turbo function\, which includes but is not limited to Nintendo Gamecube controller\, Switch Pro Controller\, Joy-cons (single or double)\, USB wired controllers licensed by Nintendo\, Smashbox or other box controllers\, or any controller that can be connected via dongle (such as a PS4 controller).\nCoaching Violations\nCoaching is defined as an attempt to give advice to any player during a tournament set. Coaching is not permitted during the duration of a tournament set\, whether during a game or in-between games in a set.\n1 warning will be given. After 1st warning\, immediate disqualification.\nCheering vs. coaching\nCheering – Nondescript statements such as “Let’s go!”\, “you got this!”\, or “mess them up!”. These are not violations. These are not seen as coaching violations\, as they do not qualify as advice that can be applied to gameplay.\nCoaching violation – Specific statements pointing out habits\, specific options\, or timings such as “Watch for his neutral getup!” “His waft is almost ready!” or “He keeps rolling!”

SUMMARY:Ivy Terrace Concert - Deni Bonet
DESCRIPTION:Deni Bonet is a New York City-based pop/rock singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist. It’s no secret that she can play the violin like nobody’s business. Or that she writes memorable songs that make you want to listen again and again. For years\, Deni has been honing her craft as a violinist\, singer\, songwriter\, and performer. Her style ranges from pop to roots-rock to new folk. Although classically trained\, Deni quit the classical world because she hated having to wear black and sit still! She has a stellar resume\, having performed and recorded with Cyndi Lauper\, R.E.M.\, Sarah McLachlan\, and many others. Her previous appearances include several concerts of her own music at NY’s Carnegie Hall\, The Great Wall of China\, the United Nations\, and the White House for President Obama. She was an original member of WV Public Radio’s Mountain Stage. For the past several years\, Deni has been touring in the US and Europe headlining festivals\, performing arts centers\, clubs\, colleges\, and concert halls soloing with symphonies. Her music has been featured on HBO\, NBC\, American Airlines\, and several films. She was recently honored to be awarded a grant through the Arts Envoy Program of the US Government to spend a month on a residency in Africa teaching violin\, songwriting\, and rock ’n roll at a music college in Zanzibar. Deni Bonet has released several CDs of her own original music\, including last year’s critically-acclaimed “Bright Shiny Objects” on Zip Records/Sony-RED.\n“Engaging\, multi-talented violinist Deni Bonet. Unlike most violinists\, she is not nailed to the floor. And she doesn’t shy away from going head-to-head with the guitar player\, having fun and breaking an erstwhile-stodgy image of the grand old instrument.” ~ Forbes Magazine
