DESCRIPTION:Cruising Around Town on Friday\, July 7 – Vehicles leave Archie’s Cruisers (regular Friday evening cruise-in gathering at B-Macs in Beaver) around 6:00-6:30 pm to cruise to Robert C. Byrd Drive (former Valley Drive) and circle around downtown Beckley ending at Word Park to enjoy music and a food vendor at the park. Please note that these are not formal cruises where all the cars stay together. These cruises are meant to be more casual cruising like many locals used to do in the 60s\, 70s\, and 80s along Valley Drive. It is fine if some of the cars stay together\, but please follow all the rules of driving (stop lights\, stop signs\, speed limit).Please be careful when exiting Archie’s Cruisers lot in Beaver. Drive whichever route you like to arrive on Valley Drive (now Robert C. Byrd Drive). Then\, make a circle around downtown and park at the lot by Word Park. 70s/80s music provided by Quiet Enough\, plus Patriot Food Wagon will be set up between 6-7:30 pm. You are welcome to make a few loops along the former Valley Drive before and/or after the music. Happy Cruising!

DESCRIPTION:Oceana’s John Cooke Founders Day and Heritage Festival\, offering a variety of activities\, the event will kick off Thursday\, July 13\, with the parade at 6 p.m. Activities will include a dunk tank\, free water slides and bounce houses.\nA kid-friendly movie will begin at 10 p.m. in the amphitheater. \nOn Saturday\, July 15\, activities will begin at noon. \nA 50/50 split motorcycle poker run begins at noon\, with kick-stands up at 11 a.m. Register in the park on the day of the event. \nAn Elvis impersonator will take the stage from 5 until 7 p.m. in the amphitheater. \nA free pool day will be from noon to 5 p.m. \nA night swim is set at the pool from 7 until 11 p.m.; the cost is $7. \nA rubber duck race has also been added to the Saturday line-up. The cost is $5 per duck and all proceeds will go to Brothers of the Wheel for their Christmas for kids. \nOn Sunday\, July 16\, activities will again begin at noon\, with a car and bike show scheduled from noon until 3 p.m. near the pool. Register in the park on the day of the event. \nThe Harless and Prichard Family will perform from 2 to 5 p.m. in the amphitheater\, with a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9 p.m. \n

DESCRIPTION:Wyoming County Historical Museum presents a Civil War reenactment. Everyone is invited. Reenactment participants set up camp and prepare for battle Cannon and gun fire echo across the park at different times during the event. Saturday evening\, July 15\, 2023 includes a night firing of the cannons.\nThis is a family friendly event and is held yearly in Wyoming County. The weekend explores the events\, personal stories\, weaponry\, clothing\, food\, dance\, etc. during the American Civil War. Attendees may take the opportunity to explore\, learn and have conversation with reenactors about the way our ancestors lived in the mid 1800s and the impact the Civil War had on their lives and on Wyoming County. \nThis is a free event.
