Salamander Foray
August 17, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The New River Gorge Master Naturalists will host a free Salamander Foray on Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 7:15 to 9 p.m. at the Canyon Rim Visitors Center, Lansing. Lenza Paul, wildlife biological science technician with the National Park Service, will give a brief talk and lead those in attendance on an expedition to explore the secretive world of the salamander. The New River Gorge is home to several species of interest, including the Master Naturalist Mascot, the Green Salamander. With a little luck and Lenza’s expertise, visitors could get a glimpse of one of these fantastic creatures. Meet at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center parking lot at 7:15 and caravan down into the Gorge from there. Bring a headlamp, just in case. All are welcome.
