History Alive! of Pearl S. Buck at the African American Heritage Family Tree Museum

African American Heritage Family Tree Museum will host a History Alive! presentation of Pearl S. Buck at 127 Log Town Road, Ansted, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.
Pearl Buck was born in West Virginia. She grew up in China and then transitioned back to America as an adult.
She was a gifted writer who authored several books and received the Pulitzer Prize for “The Good Earth” and was the first female to receive a Nobel Prize for Literature.
She was a humanitarian and social activist who openly supported African American civil rights activities at a time when it was unpopular to do so.
Pearl Buck will be portrayed by veteran presenter, actress, and scholar Karen Vuranch.
The History Alive! presentation is sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council and the African American Heritage Family Tree Museum and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Brucella Jordan at 216-290-8564.
Current exhibits on display in the museum include: Poet & Playwright Norman Jordan; Prominent African Americans in Colonial America; and Ms. Findley’s Hat Collection.
