Setting out at 9:30 am – meet at the trail head in Ansted. To get there from Route 60 (near Rite Aid) turn onto Hawks Nest Road, continue to the parking area and trail head.
The trip will be guided by on of Discover Magazines “50 Best Brains in Science” and the consulting director of the New River Birding and Nature Center, Dr. Bill Hilton, Jr. Along the way we will observe trees, wildflowers, wildlife and waterfalls and learn about the natural history of the area. This is an easy 1.8 (one way) gravel trail from the Town of Ansted to the aerial tram at Hawks Nest State Park. Complimentary life up the tram at end of hike. Bring water bottle, camera and bino’s.
