Tentative 2022 Schedule

Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day): Kids Day at New River Park
featuring the Cincinnati Circus – shows at 11:30am, 12:45pm, &
2:00pm – exciting aerial acts, fire twirling, and more!
12 pm – Meet children’s characters, enjoy foam & bubble
machines, bounce house, & Patriot Food Wagon
Kids’ Bike/Car/Wheels Show – bring your battery-
operated or pedal car, bicycle, tricycle, wagon, scooter, or stroller
to the park, decorating station, register 1:30 / awards 2:30.
Beckley Little League: Home Run Derby (ages 8 &
up, $5) begin registering at 5:30 pm, start derby at 6 pm (rain date:
Sunday, Sept. 11 at 4 pm)
Tuesday-Saturday, Sept. 6-10: Leisure Lanes – One
free game of bowling & shoe rental per child when accompanied
by a paying adult, 10am – 9pm, call for lane availability 304-253-

Tuesday, Sept. 6 – Raleigh County Library – 3-5 pm –
Dinosaur Discovery event – Participants may choose between a
dinosaur dig kit or a Lego dinosaur build kit while enjoying a
collection of dinosaur-themed books.
Story Walk / Trail Scavenger Hunt with McDonald’s, 5-7
pm, McManus Trail shelter by McDonald’s, Prince Street
After-School Stand Up Paddleboarding at Lake Stephens,
4:30-6:30 pm, Must pre-register with Active Southern WV.

Wednesday, Sept. 7: Beckley Art Center – 4-6 pm,
Stop by the Art Center to paint rocks & create a colorful Cyanotype
Thursday, Sept. 8: The Pottery Place painting party, 5 pm,
$10, only 25 spaces, pre-register in person or call 304-253-8777
Sunset / Full Moon Group Walk / Bike Ride along
the McManus Trail, meet at Art Park / 3 rd Ave lot, 7 pm
Friday, Sept. 9: Youth Museum & Exhibition Mine, 6-8 pm,
See FunnyBones Balloon & Magic Show at the amphitheater,
6-7 pm; Inside Youth Museum: New exhibit: Toyland, plus
Planetarium Shows; Exhibition Mine tours; Admission for inside
the Youth Museum & the Mine Tour = $5.
Saturday, Sept. 10: Kids Fest Street Fair-10 am–2 pm;
Main & Fayette Streets, plus the Federal Plaza on Heber Street –
Various booths, games, fun activities & food vendors
Beckley Fire Dept.’s Junior Firefighters Challenge
United Bank Carnival Showcase (game band = $5 to play
games, $5 to spin the prize wheel)
Festival Parade at 11 am – Children’s characters, bagpipers,
bands, teams, royalty & more. Theme: Toys/Games
After the parade: Madrith Chambers Remembrance; Youth
performers on courthouse steps; Tour Bookmobile, take selfies
with characters, and visit booths!
Sunday, Sept. 11: Evening – 9-11 Parade of Lights – watch
the lights of emergency vehicles as they cruise from Independence
High School at dusk along Route 16 (Byrd Dr) to downtown, back
on Byrd Drive to Epling Stadium on Ragland Road
