Here in Southern West Virginia, we’ve got loads of fun and
spooky events to help you have a fun-filled Halloween.
Beckley Haunted Coal Mine
Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, Oct. 22-24, 29-31
All aboard for some scary thrills deep underground at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. As the coal cart twists deeper into the darkness on the tracks, you’ll be wondering if you’ll make it out!
Scary Movies
The Raleigh Playhouse & Theatre, Oct. 22- Nov. 28
You’ll enjoy popcorn right along with some classic Halloween features that are truly spooky or just plain fun.
Annual Ghost Walk of Historic Bramwell
Downtown Bramwell Ghost Walk, Oct. 24
Start at the Bramwell Depot and explore the lingering legends of this historic coal town along the mansions of Millionaire Row.
Dark Carnival & Haunted History Tours
Lake Shawnee Amusement Park, Friday & Saturday Nights in October
The abandoned amusement park at Lake Shawnee has a spooky and creepy history. This land has been cursed for hundreds of years. This year there are 2 events, a photo and history tour and a “Lake Nightmare” haunted house.
Double up on your Haunted History the weekend of October 23rd & 24th with a Friday night visit to Lake Shawnee and the Saturday evening Ghost Walk in Bramwell. For one ticket price, you can visit both places in one weekend.
Whipple Company Store Haunted History Tours
Whipple Company Store, Friday & Saturday Nights in October
Explore the unexplained paranormal activities at the Whipple Company Store, and learn about the history and folklore of the 100-year-old building. Flashlights, warm drinks and sweet treats provided.
Zombie 5K Run
ACE Adventure Resort Zombie Run, Oct. 31
Can you fend off zombies? Make it through obstacles and escape them? Or will you become one of the undead yourself? Play as a zombie or a survivor— and earn prizes for completing the course or for claiming the most victims.
Fright Nights
The Resort at Glade Springs presents “Fright Nights”, Oct. 9-10, 16-17, 23-24 and 30-31.
This spooky event is made up of 3 unique attractions: The “Appalachian Anarchy” Haunted Trail, a 3D Nightmare adventure and a spooky putt putt course. There’s also a “no-scare” night for the kiddos.
