Memorial Day – The Unofficial Start of Summer

Summersville Lake

Summersville Lake in WV

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer. It’s the perfect time to get away for the weekend and visit Southern West Virginia.

Families celebrate this holiday to remember those who served in our Nations Armed Services with parades and picnics. Here in Southern West Virginia, we host a variety of events, parades and events to honor our fallen heroes and to bring friends and family together in a spirit of unity.

We have lodgings for everyone, whether you like to sleep in a tent or stay at an upscale resort or anything in between, like a cozy cabin, a historic B&B or a modern hotel. Many hotels, campgrounds and resorts offer holiday bundles, so be sure to check out our lodging page.

If you want to spend your holiday whitewater rafting or having an adventure in the outdoors, be sure to take advantage of the holiday deals offered by the outdoor outfitters in the New River Gorge.

All throughout Southern WV you can visit the newly opened lakes, pools and parks, view parades, enjoy Appalachian art & music, outdoor adventures and wonderful food while enjoying Memorial Day holiday with your family and friends.
